GHRP-6 is an injectable growth-hormone-releasing-peptide, or GHRP. Other peptides in this category include GHRP-2, hexarelin, and ipamorelin. All GHRPs have a similar method of action, so there’s no need to stack them. Rather, choose the one that’s most appropriate.
Sterile/ bacteriostatic water sold separately
Reasons to prefer GHRP-6 over other GHRPs:
- Increases appetite (which also can be a disadvantage)
- Stronger inflammation reduction effects
- Stronger effects on avascular injuries, particularly tendonitis
When to use GHRP-6
GHRP-6 is most generally used for the same purposes that GH might be used, but may be chosen where a cost advantage exists favoring GHRP 6, GH is not available, or the individual prefers the idea of stimulating his/her own HGH production versus injecting exogenous HGH.
These purposes can include increased fat loss, improved muscle gain when used in combination with anabolic steroids, cosmetic improvement of the skin, and improved healing from injury.
There is no need to cycle GHRP use, and so therefore GHRP-6 may be used whenever it is thought to be useful for any of the above reasons. However, when usage is ongoing instead of short-term amplification of a steroid cycle or fat-loss program, I recommend limiting dosage to the minimum end of the suggested dosage range.
Increased effect from combining GHRP 6 with a GHRH
While GHRP-6 is capable of inducing large increases in GH production when used alone, a given dose will show markedly more effect when a GHRH (growth hormone releasing hormone) peptide is taken at the same time. Alternately, when combining a GHRH with GHRP-6, only about half or a third as much GHRP-6 is needed to obtain the same increase in GH production.
For this reason, it’s a common choice to combine a GHRH with a GHRP, but excellent results are often obtained without doing so. A preferred choice of GHRH is Mod GRF 1-29 (also known as CJC-1295 without DAC.)
What Is GHRP-6Â ?
GHRP-6 is a peptide that boosts the body's natural release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. It acts as a ghrelin receptor agonist, meaning it activates the same receptors as ghrelin, a hormone tied to hunger and growth. Developed in recent decades, GHRP-6 supports heart health, memory, scar healing, sexual motivation, and neuron protection in Parkinson's disease. It can be taken orally or sublingually (under the tongue) and is moderately to highly selective in its effects.

Enhances Memory
Physical activity has long been linked to better learning and memory, especially when exercise follows a learning task. While the exact reasons were unclear, research now shows GHRP-6 helps strengthen newly formed memories and convert short-term memories into long-term ones. It also supports spatial learning, suggesting that growth hormone secretagogues like GHRP-6 may explain why exercise boosts brain function.
Protects Brain Tissue
In animal models of stroke, GHRP-6 protects brain cells from damage due to reduced blood flow. When given promptly after a stroke, it can also reverse memory deficits. The peptide reduces programmed cell death (apoptosis) and inflammation in the brain, safeguarding neurons from both internal and external damage following a stroke.
Supports Neurons in Parkinson's Disease
Research shows that ghrelin receptors are present in the substantia nigra, a brain region affected by Parkinson's disease. People with genetic links to Parkinson's often have fewer ghrelin receptors in this area. In animal studies, GHRP-6, which activates these receptors, may reduce neuron death in the substantia nigra, potentially slowing or preventing Parkinson's symptoms.
Improves Skin and Reduces Scarring
GHRP-6 promotes cell survival by reducing programmed cell death and interacts with a receptor that encourages blood vessel growth in wounds. In animal studies, it speeds up wound healing, improves the formation of proteins like collagen, and reduces scar tissue by better organizing the healing process. It also prevents hypertrophic scars (thick, raised scars like keloids), which can be a major concern for those prone to abnormal scarring.
Protects Heart Health
In animal models of heart attack, GHRP-6 protects heart cells from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals. This suggests it could be developed into a treatment to protect vulnerable heart cells after a heart attack, potentially reducing damage and improving long-term recovery.
Influences Sexual Motivation and Mood
In male rats, GHRP-6 affects ghrelin receptors in the brain, increasing sexual motivation and reward-seeking behavior. This could have implications for conditions like low sexual desire. Additionally, GHRP-6 may improve mood by reducing depression and enhancing brain areas tied to emotional well-being, especially under stress. This makes it a potential candidate for research into treatments for stress, anxiety, and depression.
