Aromasin (exemestane) is a steroidal, irreversible aromatase inhibitor that works by blocking the aromatase enzyme responsible for converting androgens into estrogen. This results in a significant reduction in circulating estrogen levels.
Clinically, it is used in the treatment of estrogen-dependent breast cancer. By lowering estrogen production, Aromasin helps limit the growth of estrogen-sensitive cancer cells.
