Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used mainly in postmenopausal women to prevent and treat osteoporosis.
It helps reduce the risk of spinal fractures and has also been shown to lower the risk of certain estrogen-dependent breast cancers. However, it has not been shown to reduce the risk of hip fractures or coronary heart disease.
